To have intelligence

To have intelligence you don't have to be the straight A student,
you don't have to be the smartest.
Having intelligence can mean many things.
The dictionary meaning defines intelligence as
"the capacity to acquire and apply knowledge by means of thought and reason."
Even though the dictionary has the meaning,
it does leave out many other ways of having intelligence.
having intelligence could be,

 birds building a nest,
 animals foraging for food,
 humans inventing machines,
the fact that birds travel south in the winter,
or humans coping with everyday situations,

All of the above are examples that require the capability to think using our brains,
and the intelligence that we and animals have.
We all have some sort of intelligence that we use to think,
and make decisions on a daily basis.

HOMEWORK

this one will be kinda short but very needed..
I HATE HOMEWORK,
teachers are always giving you so much homework saying,
its not that much it will only take 20 to 30 minutes,
well do they every take a second to think,
how many other teachers are giving us that same amount of homework?
At the end of the day i could end up with seven classes of homework where the teachers say it will only take that short 20 to 30 minutes,
well guess what teacher,
now i have six more classes of homework,
that's 7 x each 20 to 30 minute assignment = 140 to 210 minutes of homework now!
not too mention the big assignment's that are an hour for just one of them!
plus i have basketball practice or a game every day, and church on Wednesdays.
so please teachers.. do us both a favor, and do the work in class.
that way we aren't stressing out staying up till 12 trying to do homework
and you guys don't have to correct anything!
look how wonderful that is. :)

work ethic

I think work ethic is a set of values that are based on hard work and how much work you do.
A work ethic may include being reliable,
having intelligence,
doing work on time,
maintaining social skills,
or how hard you work towards something.
In school kids who show better work ethics should get the better scores on their homework, projects, or tests.
The kids who aren't showing good work ethic,
showing procrastination in their work,
copying others work,
or just not caring at all,
should be getting the grades they are trying for,
which are low grades.
In the world of adults and workers with good or bad work ethics,
I think workers that show good work ethic in their jobs,
should be selected for better positions,
 more responsibility and even promotions.
Workers who don't show good work ethic,
may be viewed as failing to provide value for the  employer that is paying them,
and should not be promoted or placed in positions of greater responsibility.
So as you can see having a good work ethic will always be better than a poor work ethic.
Having good work ethic will get you somewhere in life.
Having poor work ethic won't get you very far.
That is why i try and have a positive work ethic all the time,
and as times can be hard and i may sometimes not feel like trying or doing some work,
i will always try my hardest to do my best.

another year passes

2010. It's been a decade since the turn of the millennium. Seems like it had been such a long time, yet so quick time flies. For me, these 10 years have been very meaningful. Standing at the end of 2010 looking back at the start of 2000, I don't think I have the vocabulary to fully describe the experience. As I run through the ten years, a lot has changed with me, i have turned from a child too a young adult, yet I feel like I am only beginning to understand what life really is. I am only starting to grasp all that ten years worth of stuff life's been throwing at me. In ten years, I have witnessed so many changes in and around me, I still can't quite fully take it all in.

I stepped into 2000 a young girl scared for my first year of school, and stepped out of 2010 still a student and still scared of what my future holds.

I stepped into 2000 with friends, our biggest fights being about who stole whose crayons, and stepped out of 2010 with friends, and our everyday unneeded dramma..

I stepped into 2000 immature, excited and curious about my new life as a student, and stepped out of 2010  a little wiser, more mature and wishing to relive the days of naps, finger painting, and no judging of others.

If you were asked to describe the last ten years of your life, what would instantly come to mind?  The laughters and happy times, the tears and sad times, the anger and frustrating times, the fear and despairing times...  these emotions, they link to the things I have done or experienced that are particularly memorable. So I look back at the 20 most memorable experiences of my 2010  and this is what my list is like:

1.Turning 16, being able to drive, being free to go where i want, when i want, and not have to rely on others to get me there.

2.meeting all my new friends at my new school.

3. welcomed my new baby sister, laynee to world on November 25.

4. got my first car, a ford explorer.

5. Climbed New Mexico's tallest mountain, wheelers peak, all the way to the top.

6. Started my sophomore year of high school.

7. Traveled to Texas, what i do every summer, but is always worth it.

8. went to Chicago for the 3rd time.

9.Flew in an airplane, which i've done countless times, but i love flying.

10. met my amazing best friend, that i can tell anything too.

11.went too stay with my cousin for three weeks.

12. Ran a new PR (personal record) in cross country, 15:15

13.Went kayaking.

14. Met a boy and fell for him

15. got my heart broke by the same boy

16. Had a taste of heartache.

17. Broken some treasured friendships.

18. Rediscovered old friendships.

19. discovered the joy of laughter with many friends who made much difference in my life.

20. Grew closer to 2011, to start the next amazing, terrifying, stressful, yet wonderful, decade of my incredible life.

Here's to a wonderful 2010 and a promising 2011.
 Happy New Year!

Basketball game

I had a basketball game today at mankato west.
Although we didn't win, it was a pretty good game.
I also got to see my mom, step dad, and little brothers.
That was the bet part of the night.
(since i now live with my dad instead of my mom)
I loved seeing them and catching up since the last time we hung out.
It made me sad when i had to leave.
i miss them so much..
can't wait too spend more time with them..
i love you guys.

Having Courage

Courage is a way of life.
Courage is not something that comes from to you in moments of need or in emergencies.
Courage is not something that can be handed over to you through friends, peers, parents, or lessons learned.
It is as much a habit as anything else.
People tend to speak of courage only in terms of deeds.
An a example is, they might speak of courage in a battle field where Soldiers are fighting or how policemen and firefighters are supposed to show courage.
Or people might refer to courage in the situations of devastation.
Floods, tornadoes, earthquakes, and other natural disasters affect people and after the disasters hit those victims must show        courage.

However, courage is not the name you can give to you putting up with bad situations.
After all, in a bad situation there is not much one can do expect cope with whatever strength  they have in recovering from that bad situation.
The kid who breaks a arm on the basketball court but goes back to the game later shows courage. The student who has troubles following their dreams with the pressures of drugs, and alcohol, and saying  no to the pressures of others, shows courage.
The real test of courage is in our daily lives.
 Or should be.
The courage to speak the truth.
All the time.
Because lies are the biggest and most obvious kind of cowardice that all of us hide behind.
The courage to speak our mind and not stay silent, only because we are afraid that other people might not agree with us.
or that we may be judged by others for what we think.
Of course, there will always be ones who don't agree with you.
ones who will judge you.
And of course ones who will not like your choices or your decisions.
But not speaking your mind can lead to much worse things.
To have courage is to have:
The courage to stand up for what we believe in.
The courage to follow the rules and laws even when others aren't.
The courage to help others make the right decision when they need help.
The courage to resist those who take easy ways out.
Never be afraid to have courage, or too much courage, it is a powerful thing.
Everyone needs courage.

leader or a follower?

"if you follow the crowd,  you might get lost in it."
that's something I think about daily.
i try my hardest not to be a follower.
yet i find myself relying  on others at times
followers seem to be always frowned upon
yet is being a follower always a bad thing?
if someone else is the leader of something you believe in,
doesn't that make it acceptable to follow?

Good leaders are made, not born.
If you have the desire and willpower,
you can become a leader.
Good leaders develop through a never ending process of doing what you feel is right
to be a leader does not come naturally,
you become a leader by doing what you want or standing up for something you believe in.
you do what you want,
even though others may not want the same thing
Good leaders are continually doing what they want even if they are on there own.

an expression i hear almost daily is,
"be a leader, not a follower."
so if you're not a follower,
does that automatically make you a leader?
you can take charge in certain situations,
rather than rely on someone else to get things done,
but that doesn't always make you a good leader.
for me personally,
i'll only follow the crowd as long as it takes me in the direction i want to go.
and it seems to me that even if you're the leader of the crowd,
you still one day could get lost in being a follower of a situation.
but as being a leader is most likely the best  thing,
is being a follower always bad..?
